Calculator disclaimer

Effective August 17, 2026

Tools for Flooring Projects provides estimates, not guarantees. Outputs can be wrong because of incorrect inputs, rounding, simplified geometry, software defects, product variation, or conditions the calculator cannot observe. Independently verify important results before purchasing materials, approving work, cutting products, or making financial decisions.

Measurements and quantities

Rectangular area methods do not automatically account for angled or curved walls, alcoves, obstacles, cabinets, stair landings, openings, or field variation. Cartons, tiles, rolls, sheets, trim, and other products may have fixed sell units, defects, dye lots, grading, usable-width restrictions, or coverage that differs from nominal dimensions.

Waste and pattern matching

Waste percentages are planning assumptions. Actual waste depends on room geometry, installation direction, stagger rules, cuts, damage, selective grading, tile caliber, pattern repeats, side match, pile direction, seams, and installer technique. Follow product-specific instructions and qualified installer guidance.

Layout and installation

Starter rows, centered tile cuts, carpet seams, subfloor sheets, transitions, and stair estimates are first-pass plans. The tools do not assess substrate condition, moisture, flatness, movement joints, structural support, fastening, adhesives, acclimation, slip resistance, accessibility, fire performance, building codes, warranties, or safety. Dry-lay and field-check layouts where appropriate.

Costs and taxes

Cost outputs are not quotes. Rates, minimum charges, labor scope, preparation, demolition, delivery, financing, taxability, and unforeseen conditions vary. Confirm pricing, tax treatment, and contract scope with relevant providers.

No professional relationship

Using the site does not create a contractor, designer, architect, engineer, accountant, legal, or other professional relationship. Consult appropriately qualified professionals when the outcome affects safety, compliance, warranties, or substantial expense.

As-is service

The site is provided as-is and as-available without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Liability is limited as described in the Terms of use, while rights and liabilities that cannot legally be excluded remain preserved.
